Chinmaya Organization for Rural Development

CORD’s progressive vision empowers women to use their creative talents to not only earn an individual living but to build a powerful micro-banking structure with which to establish total financial independence. From there, its services have expanded to include: managing and sustaining natural resources, developmental vocational activities, rehabilitation for the physically/mentally impaired, abuse counseling, health awareness and social justice assistance among others. With its beginnings in the villages of Himachal Pradesh seated at the foothills of the Himalayas, CORD has now broadened its reach to serve 700 rural remote villages across India.

Based upon its numerous recognitions by the Indian government, all income generated by Elmhurst Indian-American Association will have CORD as part of its Effective Altruism portifolio.
